Obituary for Altie May Baker (1935-2025)

Mrs. Altie May Baker, 90, of Jarvis, the widow of Aaron Keith Baker, passed away Saturday morning, August 9, 2025 at the Corbin Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born March 23, 1935 in Barbourville, the daughter of the late James and Mary Hammond Mills.

Altie was a former seamstress with Warner’s and a member of the Callihan Baptist Church.  She enjoyed gardening, but mostly loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rowena Robinson; a son, Darrell Baker; a grandson, Kevin Bailey and ten siblings.

Survivors include her loving children, Janice Lay and David Baker both of Jarvis; treasured grandchildren, Jason Bailey, Rebecca Doolin and husband, Gary, Crystal Massey and fiancé, Mike Frame, Devin Baker and Jimmy Gibson, Aaron Baker and wife, Danielle, Kristina Smith, Charlie Glenn Keys, Owen and Stephanie Baker and James and Eric Smith; great grandchildren, Seth, Destani and Talia Bailey, Steve Massey, Lillian Bailey, Ellie-Ann Doolin, Jaden Butler, Austin and Allen Feltner, Brayson, Brailey, Brantley, Evan and Khaleesi Baker; daughters-in-law, Alene Baker and Nora Baker; special family friends, June Mills, Sharon Napier and Edna Gibson; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, August 13 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Mike Fuson and Joe Shields officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Obie Mills Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Mike Frame, David Baker, Jason Bailey, Steve Massey, Jimmy Gibson and Charlie Glenn Keys.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contribution to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
