Barbourville, Ky. – Mrs. Anna Joyce Martin Valentine, age 93, departed this life on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. Anna was the daughter of the late Earl and Stella Mooneyham Martin born in Knox County and a member of the Highland Park Holiness Church.
Anna was proceeded in death by her husband of 70 years, Kenneth Valentine, by an infant daughter, Charlotte Ann Valentine, by an infant brother, Earl Thomas Martin, and by sisters: Wanda Jones (Buddy), Jean Sowders (Harry), Naomi Farris, and Glenda Hurst. She is survived by her two children: Kenny R. Valentine (Carolyn), and Deborah J. Hammons (Lyle), by three grandsons: Jerry Christopher Mills (Karen), Jeffrey Todd Valentine (Whitney) and Matthew Dale Mills (Donna), by seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Tyler Mills, Kaitlyn Renee Mills, Tabor Jacob Valentine, Trevor Joseph Valentine, Halle Brook Mills, Jackson Ryan Mills, Taylor Elizabeth Valentine, and by brothers-in-law Ray Farris and Cecil Hurst. Anna also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and friends to mourn her passing.
The Valentine family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM. Reverend David Mounce will officiate assisted by Reverend James Wilder. Piano accompaniment by Jackson Mills. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Doolin Cemetery, Heidrick, Kentucky. Casket Bearers will be Anna’s beloved Grandsons and Great Grandsons.
