Arland Mills, 76, passed away on November 28, 2025. Arland was born on August 2, 1949, in Knox County, Kentucky to Ralph and Ruth Mills, who preceded him in death along with his brother, Randall.
Arland leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Sue Ellen (Brafford) Mills; daughter, Penny Mills and son-in-law Jamie Baker of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Brad Mills and daughter-in-law Karen and grandsons, Cooper and Jake all of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and twin brother, Oren Mills and sister-in-law Kathi of Corbin, Kentucky. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and church family.
Arland was a 1968 graduate of Roseville High School in Roseville, Michigan. In 1969, he entered the United States Army where he completed a tour of duty in Vietnam, earning an honorable discharge in 1970 with the rank of sergeant. Arland then returned to Warren, Michigan, working at Chrysler’s Sterling Stamping Plant for 11 years before moving back to the home he loved in Southeastern Kentucky. There, he would raise a family and retire after 30 years of service as a pipefitter at L&N Railroad, Seaboard System Railroad, and CSX Transportation.
Arland was a member of South Park United Baptist Church. He loved Mopar cars and trucks, farming, cheering for the University of Kentucky sports teams, being a grandfather, and visiting neighbors on his side-by-side. Arland was known to grill a delicious steak, mow his lawn twice a week, and have the cleanest cars known to man.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Matt Ridener officiating. Burial will follow at Gray Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and family from 11 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Arland’s memory to South Park United Baptist Church located at 102 22nd Street, Corbin, KY 40701.
