Obituary for Bruce A. Bennett (1938-2020)

Bruce A. Bennett age 81, of Pineville, KY passed away, Saturday June 27, 2020 at his home. He was born August 6, 1938 in Bell Co, KY to the late Vernon Ray and Frances Mae Bennett. Bruce had been in law enforcement for 60 years and dedicated his life to protecting and serving, especially the youth here in Bell County. He had been a Alcohol Beverage Control Enforcement Officer for the state of Kentucky for 30 years; Bruce was the Bell County Sheriff for 12 years; Bruce had worked as a Deputy United States Marshal, Pineville City Police officer, a Bell County constable, Bell County Sheriff Deputy and Bell County Deputy Jailer for Mr. Ed Asher; Bruce also taught part time at Eastern Kentucky University school of Law Enforcement. Bruce was a member of the order of the Masonic Lodge where he received his 50-year pin. Bruce was a member of Old Straight Creek Baptist Church and gave his life to the Lord in 2017.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers V.R Bennett and Ronald Bennett; sister Alice Mae Bennett Woolum.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Mona Rae Helton Bennett; daughter Jacqueline Rae Briones and husband Fernando, of Frankfort, KY; son Michael Edward Bennett and wife Ashley, of Pineville, KY; grandson Justin Bennett Briones of Lexington, KY and granddaughter Annslee Darbi Rae Bennett of Pineville, KY. Bruce has a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. 

Funeral services will be 2PM Tuesday June 30, 2020 at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home, with Rev. James Ward and Rev. Harold Sutton; music will be provided by Paul and Becky Long. Burial will follow in the Pineville Memorial Cemetery with Carl Frith, Darrell Brooks, Colby Slusher, Josh Slusher, Eugene Collett, Luke Helton and Fernando Briones as pallbearers; honorary pallbearers are Joe Ward, Carl Jr. Johnson and William and Don Mosley.
