Mr. Carl Runyon, age 82 of Artemus, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at his home. He was the husband of Lynda (Scalf) Runyon and the son of John Runyon and Irene (Smith) Runyon, born to them on May 29, 1941 in Knox County.
Carl was a member of the Coalport Baptist Church and was a retired Federal Mine Inspector with MSHA having started there in 1975.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene Runyon.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his devoted wife Lynda Runyon of Artemus, three beloved children, Carl Runyon, Jr. and wife Tammy of Artemus, Carrie Waters and husband David of Corbin and Jennifer Tucker and husband Brandon of Madisonville, Kentucky, one sister, Brenda Bryant and husband Larry of Bryant Store and one brother, James Runyon and wife Linda of Texas, six grandchildren, Letecia Runyon, Kayla Smith, Karra Tucker, Addelyn Tucker, Casey Smith and Brandy Scott. He also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Runyon will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Sizemore and Billy Crawford officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery. Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
