Mrs. Clara Marie Rose Rice, 91, of Little Poplar Creek, was born February 12, 1934 to the late Arthur and Lucy Cooper Rose. She said goodnight to us on this side of life and good morning to God on Wednesday evening, May 7, 2025 at her home.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Rose; two brothers, Billie Joe and Jimmy Dean Rose and step-mother, Alice Foley Rose.

Clara is survived by her children, Tommy Rice of Poplar Creek and Penny Partin and husband, Robert, of Poplar Creek; step-daughter, Jaunita Rice Peters of Barbourvillle; beloved grandsons, Scotty Partin and wife, Nichole, of Poplar Creek and Robby Partin and wife, Ashley, of Flat Lick; her “little loves”, the great grandchildren, Gavin, Cayley, Makenley and Bella Partin; sisters, Alma Hubbs and husband, Ronnie, of Georgia, and Jean Ann Burnett and husband, Mack, of Rose City, MI; special sisters-in-law, Janice Rose Embry of Louisville and Betty Rice of Girdler; special friend, Donna Thomas of Barbourville; several nieces, nephews and cousins from the Rose, Cooper and Rice families, but know she loved you all and several Facebook friends.

She was a former real estate agent, landlord and a member of the Swanpond Baptist Church. She overcame her fear of water at the age of 73 to be baptized by Rev. Denvil Taylor and her grandson, Scotty, on September 23, 2009. She was always about the Lord’s business and believed in helping others. She would often take in children from her neighborhood and help feed and raise them. She also found joy in tending to her rose bushes. Her favorite moments were spent with her grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the Rose Cemetery Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 2 P.M. with Scotty Partin officiating.
