Mr. Claude A. Jones, 94, of Corbin, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family at the Christian Health Center in Corbin. He was born May 13, 1932, the son of the late Crit Steely and Elizabeth Garland Jones.
Claude lived a life rooted in faith, family and music. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later retired from National Standard Manufacturing after many years of dedicated work. Claude was a faithful member of the Keck Baptist Church and loved singing gospel and bluegrass music. He was known for his talent as a guitar player and singer and many cherished hearing him play and sing through the years.
On February 3, 1960, he united in marriage with Carol Ann Engle at Gray and shared many years together until her passing in 2002. Later on May 31, 2003, he united in marriage with Carrie Hill.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Dewayne Jones and siblings, Rev. Lewis Jones, Flossie Asher, Eula Cox, James T. Jones and Robert “Tip” Jones.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carrie Jones of Corbin; a daughter, Karen Denise Goley and husband, John, of Gray; stepdaughters, Sandra Parker and Helen Hamblin both of Corbin; sisters, Edna Johnson of London, Carol Temple and husband, Charlie, and Merle Smith all of Corbin; a brother, Harold E. Jones and wife, Wanda, of Gray; beloved grandchildren, Tarah Renee Smith and husband, Justin, Megan Renee Jones and Gabrielle Nicole Davis and husband, Alex; step grandchildren, Natalie Allen and husband, Craig, Alizabeth Parker and Carissa Riley; great grandchildren, who brought much joy to him, Rylie Kate and Averie Smith, Cameron Whalen, Declan, Dylan, Willow, Archer and Zechariah Davis; step great grandchildren, Adrien Parker, Taya, Shamal and Jadavien Allen; several nieces and nephews; among many other loved ones and dear friends.
Claude will be remembered for his deep love for family, his unwavering faith and the music that filled his life and the lives of those around him. Though he will be greatly missed, his family finds comfort knowing he is rejoicing in his Heavenly home.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, June 2 at 2 P.M. with Rev. David Barnard and Rev. Darrel Bargo officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Beatty Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
