Mr. Doyle Gene Robinson, 72, of Merrillville, IN, formerly of Barbourville, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 16, 2026 at his home. He was born August 28, 1953 in Portage, IN, the son of the late Mitchell and Edna Wyatt Robinson.
Doyle was a machine operator with CSX Railroad and a member of the Locust Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching wrestling, working puzzles and was an avid Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan.
On January 29, 1976, he united in marriage with Shirley Barnard in Laurel County.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley J. Robinson of Merrillville, IN; children, Andrea Robinson of Lexington, Nicholas Robinson of Ada, OK and Melanie Goodin and husband, Steve, of Corbin; sisters, Debra Robinson and Wanda Chapman both of Portage, IN, Joyce Molik and husband, Bob, of Merrillville, IN and Barbara Tucker of Garland, TX; a brother, Charles Robinson of Kautz, IN; treasured grandchildren, Shawn Tyler, Erin and Isaac Goodin and Makenzie and Adlyn Robinson; great grandchildren, Riley and Julian Goodin; brother-in-law, Rev. David Barnard; sister-in-law, Patricia Smith; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, August 21 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Geral Wells and Rev. David Barnard officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Gilbert Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Steve Goodin, Isaac Goodin, Shawn Tyler Goodin, John R. Robinson, Nicholas Robinson and Basil Trent.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
