Rev. Dr. Bobby Drew Lawson, age 72, of Barbourville, Ky passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Baptist Health Corbin.
He was born on January 24, 1953 in Jellico, Tenn to the late Andrew and Jeanette Rose Lawson.
Bobby was of the Baptist faith and was ordained by Rev. Kenneth Farris at First Baptist Church on Third St. in 2000. Rev. Dr. Lawson served over 20 years on Pointing Souls To Calvary radio ministry.
Bobby also worked as a Energy Manager for KCEOC until his retirement in 2002. He loved his dogs and cats; his favorite things were raising cattle, praying for people and sharing the gospel. He enjoyed attending St. Paul Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, Bobby is also preceded in death by two brothers; Eddie Lawson and Arnold Rose, one sister; Margie Sue Moses.
Survivors include his wife; Karen Lawson, one son Bobby Drew Lawson, Jr. of Barbourville, one daughter; Amanda Leigh Lawson Watkins and husband James of Corbin, KY; two grandchildren; Ryleigh Grace Watkins and Caden James Watkins; several nieces and nephews along with other loved ones and friends to mourn his passing.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hafiz Sroya, Dr. Paul Pederson and their team who cared so much for Bobby.
Funeral services for Rev. Dr. Bobby Drew Lawson will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025, with a grave side service at the Barbourville Cemetery at 1pm. The Rev. Charles Tinsley will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Barbourville Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until the service hour at 1pm.
Pall bearers will be Bobby Lawson, Jr, James Watkins, Doug Cobb, A.J. Smith, Joshua Smith, Alex Smith.
Arrangements are under the direction of Barbourville Funeral Home.
