Mrs. Edith Ruth Crawford, 84, of Barbourville, passed away Monday evening, May 11, 2026 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 13, 1941 in Barbourville, the daughter of the late Crit and Myrtle Cole Owens.
Ruth was a former social worker and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Through the years, she was an avid coin, knife and stamp collector.
On July 1, 1961, she united in marriage with Charles Ed Crawford, who preceded her in death, and to this union two children were born.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Misty Hope Brown and a brother, Ray Owens.
Survivors include her loving son, Chuck Crawford and wife, Jackie, of Barbourville; a sister, Joyce McKeehan and husband, Don, of Barbourville; a sister-in-law, Glenda Owens of Barbourville; cherished grandchildren, Travis Crawford and wife, Nicole, Lauren Burnette and husband, Carl Richard, and Lexi Broughton; great grandchildren, Harrison and Arlington Crawford and Adalyn Tate Burnette; among other loved ones and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, May 14 at 12 Noon with Rev. Darrel Bargo and Rev. Justin Morris officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Hutchins Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Jonathan Hubbard, Brett Ledford, Thomas Jackson, Carl Burnette, Ollis Burnette and Joe White. Serving as an honorary bearer will be Matthew Hubbard.
The family would like to thank and recognize the care and love provided by Brenda Bentley, Debbie Wells, Dr. James West and Dr. Richard Carter.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday after 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
