Barbourville, Ky. – Eiko West, age 88, of Tye Bend Road, died peacefully at her home Sunday, August 17, 2025. She was a member of Swan Pond Baptist Church. Eiko was born to Tojiro and Masa Takahashi Suzuki on April 9, 1937, in Ashina Japan. She was one of six children. On February 14, 1967, she united in marriage to Roy Dean West and to this union two children, Roy and George, were born. Eiko loved to travel, shop, and cook. She especially enjoyed preparing food and meals to share with others. Eiko also loved to laugh and scratch lottery tickets.
Eiko was preceded in death by her parents, Tojiro and Masa Suzuki; one sister; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roy P. and Wenoma West; her son Roy Dean West, Jr.; and brothers-in-law Bob Kimble and Guy Millward.
Eiko is survived by her husband, Roy Dean West; son George West (Jenny); granddaughters Cassidy West (Fiancé Cade), and Lindsey West Worley (Brady); and sisters-in-law Yvonne Lester (Bruce) and Bonnie Kimble. She also leaves behind a host of other loved ones and friends.
The West family will receive friends at Swan Pond Baptist Church on Thursday, August 21, 2025 from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. Dr. Michael Deland will officiate with musical tributes by the Swan Pond Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Faulkner Chapel Cemetery, Knox County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers are: James Jolly, Robbie Kimble, Tyler Kimble, Kaden Kimble, Brady Worley, and Cade Cooney. Honorary Casket Bearers are: Dr. Cooney, Dr. Reddy, and Dr. Sroya.
