Mrs. Fredia L. Wells, 79, of Woodbine, passed away Friday evening, May 2, 2025 at Baptist Health Corbin. She was born at Alva in Harlan County on August 4, 1945, the daughter of the late Ova and Lucille Fox Carter.
Fredia was the former owner and operator of Williamson Furniture and a member of the Indian Gap Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. While wintering in Florida, she loved seashell hunting and dolphin and bird watching.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, James Caleb Wells and an infant grandchild.
Survivors include her loving husband of over 63 years, James Herman Wells of Woodbine; dearly loved children, James Douglas Wells and Herman Geral Wells and wife, Tammy, all of Woodbine; sisters, Carolyn Sue Engle of Woodbine and Valrie C. Masters of Corbin; cherished grandchildren, Jessica Nicole Mason and husband, Brian, of Corbin and Jonathan Geral Wells and wife, Chloe of Woodbine; great grandchildren, Adelyn and Kyson Mason and Harper Rae Wells; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, May 6 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Geral Wells and Rev. Mike Helton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Campbell Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Doug Wells, Geral Wells, Jonathan Wells, Dewain Burton, Randall Slusher and Jack Bolton.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
