Mrs. Geraldine Partin Smith, 89, of Barbourville, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, November 16, 2025 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 16, 1936 in Pineville, the daughter of the late Dewey and Jemima Bays Partin.
Geraldine was a life-long and well known resident of Smokey Creek. She enjoyed reading her Bible, singing, cooking, thrifting, making floral arrangements and crafting. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church and was a dearly loved Christian lady.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her life-long partner and husband, Cecil “Pete” Smith; two daughters, Sharon Fisher and Jacqueline Doane; a son, Bobby Hubbard; sisters, Anna D. Partin, Cleo Partin and Jean Helen Partin and a brother, Vernon Partin.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Mills and husband, Charles West, of Barbourville and Tammy Leighton of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, Robert Hembree of Louisville; special grandchildren and caregivers, Jessica Hubbard and wife, Ashley, of Corbin and Leah Messer and husband, Shane, of Knox County; six additional grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a beloved son-in-law, Ronnie Mills of Barbourville; a beloved sister in Christ, Misty Mills of Barbourville; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, November 20 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Aaron Gray officiating.
Honorary bearers will be Jeff Hibbard, Travis Mills, Shane Messer, Brayden Spencer, Dominique Abner and Jess Hubbard.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
