Obituary for Hazel Marie Morse Frye-Blankenship (1927-2020)

Mrs. Hazel Marie Morse, Frye-Blankenship age 93 of Gray, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at her home. She was the daughter of Earnest Morse and Rosa Lee Lundy Morse born to them in Harlan, Kentucky on May 9, 1927.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Rosa Lee Lundy Morse Fry, three sisters, Bessie, Oreva and Bertha, seven brothers, Walter, Claude, John, Tom, Leonard, Frank and Herbert Morse, two daughters, Gaylain Frye Ballard and Deloria Blankenship Lundy, one son Dan P. Frye, Jr, two grand-sons, Timothy and Thomas Owens, one grand-daughter, Kimberly Ballard and one great grand-son, Kenneth Ray Jarvis and one great-great grandson, Andrew Isaac Jackson.

She is survived by five daughters, Violet Owens of Gray, Kentucky, Vivian Owens and husband Paul of Flint, Michigan, Agnes Holder and husband Wayne of Gray, Deborah Smiddy and husband John of Panama City, Florida and Retha Ledford and husband Rick of Gray, Kentucky, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends. 

Hazel had been a lifetime member of the Richland Christian Church at Gray. She was employed with Ford Motor Company for a while in Detroit, Michigan before moving back home to Kentucky. She drove a school bus for twenty years for the Knox County Board of Education. One of her passions was volunteer work. For several years she volunteered for Baptist Health Corbin and the Veterans, driving them to medical appointments. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at West Knox Volunteer Fire and Rescue. She also loved farming and enjoyed it for several years as well. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel will be conducted on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Richland Christian Church at Gray. Pastor Wiley Smith will be officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Clouse Cemetery with grandsons as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Ledford and Paul Owens. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. 

Friends will be received at the Richland Christian Church on Tuesday evening after 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
