Obituary for Homer Baker (1932-2019)

Mr. Homer Baker, age 87, of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the Henry Ford Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan.  He was the son of the late Sherman and Carrie (Bunch) Baker, born to them on March 26, 1932 in Barbourville, Kentucky.  Homer was the widow of the late Patricia (Smith) Baker.  He was a retired factor worker for Chrysler Corporation in Michigan, loved farming, cattle and horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents Sherman and Carrie (Bunch) Baker, sons Cecil Baker and wife Terri, George R. Baker and Baby Boy Baker, daughter, Alma Jean Baker, brothers John D. Baker, George Baker, Sherman Baker, Jr., Bob Baker, sisters Betty Davis, Alma Jean Baker, Ethel Powell and Jessie Baker.

Left behind to mourn his passing are his sons Arthur Baker of Kentucky, Bob Baker and wife Janie of Detroit, Michigan, Homer Baker, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan, Lark Baker of Michigan, daughters Ethel Sabin and husband Clifford of Detroit, Michigan, Darlene Rice of Barbourville, Kentucky, Carrie Finney of Detroit, Michigan, and Jessie Dittrich of New Boston, Michigan, two special grandchildren raised as children Ernest Baker and Carrie Bullock, twenty nine grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren.  He also leaves behind many relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services for Mr. Homer Baker will be conducted on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.  Pallbearers will be Chad Sabin, Matthew Sabin, Craig Finney, Clifford Sabin, Edwin Padilla, Ernest Baker, Cecil Levi Baker and Franklin King.  Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery at Barbourville, Kentucky.  Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, December 20, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
