Obituary for Imogene Smith (1951-2024)

Mrs. Imogene Smith, 72, of Barbourville, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 1, 2024 at the home of her daughter in Corbin.  She was the daughter of the late Lee and Nadine Goodin Elliott born on August 10, 1951 in Bell County.

Imogene was a homemaker and a member of the Heritage of Truth Church.  She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, taking walks, studying her Bible each day and watching Bill Gaither.

On July 2, 1971, she united in marriage with Delbert Smith, who preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Payne and Jessie Elliott; brothers, William James and Lonnie Elliott and a brother-in-law, Gilbert Smith.

Survivors include her dearly loved children, Dale Smith of Barbourville and Donna Smith and fiancé, Dustin Couch, of Corbin; a sister, Darlene Smith of Jarvis; sisters-in-law, Doris Elliott of Cannon, Nadine Elliott of Barbourville and Veronica Patterson of Corbin; three cherished grandchildren, Devin Wagers and fiancé, Hope, Timothy Cole Smith and Dalbert Dale Lee Smith; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, February 7 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Jeremiah Reeves and Rev. Craig Thomas officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Smith Cemetery at Crane Nest.

Casket bearers will be Devin Wagers, Trey Rogers, Matthew Messer, Vealor Wagers, Ted Hobbs and Austin Hobbs.  Serving as an honorary bearer will be Christopher Pilon.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
