Obituary for Jerry Paul Strong (1947-2025)

Mr. Jerry Paul Strong, 77, of Barbourville, passed away Friday evening, May 23, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  He was born September 19, 1947 at Warren in Knox County, the son of the late Paul and Alma Crawford Strong.

Jerry was an entrepreneur and business owner.  He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Barbourville.  Jerry was a member of Masonic Lodge 187 F & AM, a Shriner, The Redbirds, the Dairy Queen Breakfast Club and honored as a Kentucky Colonel.  He enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard and was an avid UK sports fan.  He most loved spending time with family and meeting friends for breakfast each morning.  Jerry faithfully served his country in the United States Navy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eli and Hannah Crawford and Lucian and Lila Strong.

Survivors include his loving children, Shonna Strong, Jennifer Strong Huhn and Ben Strong all of Lexington, Zachary Strong and wife, Shelby, of London and Jeremiah Strong and wife, Sadie, of Corbin; sisters, Tina Smith and husband, Bill, of Gibralter, MI and Linda Beier and husband, Rick, of Woodhaven, MI; a brother, Joe Strong and wife, Barb, of Riverview, MI; treasured grandchildren, Zachary Asher, Zebulin Collett, Jo-Jo Collett, Ethan Strong and Jayden, Kennedi Strong and Dalton, Lucas Strong, Griffin Huhn, Harper Huhn, Blakely Strong and Carson Strong; great grandchildren, Knox Asher, Indie and Georgia Strong and Tinslee and Colton Collett; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, May 29 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Garrett Garland officiating.  Masonic Rites will follow the funeral service by members of Masonic Lodge 187 F & AM.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Matt Mills, Zachary Asher, Ethan Strong, Lucas Strong, Griffin Huhn and Colton Smith.  Honorary bearers will be Michael Jones, Glenn Hughes, Butch Moore and Jimmy Gatliff.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.
