Obituary for Lauren Jaylin Buttery (2008-2025)

Ms. Lauren Jaylin Buttery, 16, of Barbourville, passed away Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025 at her home.  She was born October 30, 2008 in Corbin, the daughter of Christopher Lynn and Sarah Louise Brock Buttery.

Lauren was a beloved student at Barbourville High School and was a proud member of the dance team.  Her enthusiasm and commitment inspired her teammates and classmates alike.  A devoted Tiger fan, Lauren could often be found in the pep section, cheering for her team and rallying school spirit with her infectious smile and unwavering support.  She loved dancing and shopping and like many her age, enjoyed Tik Tok.  She also dearly loved her family and her friends.  Lauren will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Linda Buttery, Jimmy Brock and Helen Brock-Lowe; great grandparents, Carl and Anna Mae Lewis; an uncle, Terry Gene Buttery Jr. and a dear neighbor who she loved as a grandma, Debbie Renfro.

Survivors include her loving parents, Christopher and Sarah Buttery; sisters, Kelsie Kaylin and Chrislyn Arabella Buttery; bonus sisters, Gabriella Thomas and Rilyn Gray; aunts and uncles, Christine Urrhman and her children, Stacey Sizemore and husband, Justin, and their children, Jamie Siler and husband, Keith, and their children,  Jimmy Brock and wife, Annie, and their children, Bridget Buttery and Marisa Buttery and her son; a bonus uncle, James Mills; special cousins, Nicole Carnes and her children and Karla Huebner and her children; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, June 3 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Rick Thomas and Ryan Thomas officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Mayhew Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Jimmy Brock, Justin Sizemore, Keith Siler, Eithan Siler, Evan Sizemore, James Mills, Xander Thomas and Terry Hubbard.  Ryan Thomas will be serving as an honorary bearer.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday between 3 and 9 P.M. and Tuesday prior to the funeral hour.
