Mr. Lester Smith, 81, of Flat Lick, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 28, 2023 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was the son of the late Lois and Clara Smith born on September 11, 1942 in Clay County.
Lester was a former welder and a member of the Concord Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending his backyard and flourishing vegetable gardens. He was also an avid UK Wildcats fan.
On January 16, 1993, he united in marriage with Thelma Powell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Troy Logsdon.
Survivors include his loving wife, Thelma Smith of Flat Lick; children, Anthony Smith and wife, Mary, and Tabitha Smith all of Virginia, Glenn Taylor and wife, Robin, of Barbourville, Teresa Hubbard and husband, Ronnie, of Flat Lick and Lesa Taylor Sundberg and husband, Dennis, of Lexington; sisters, Aneda Smith Warren of Barbourville and Linda Sue Stewart and husband, Bill, of Florence; brothers, Earl Smith and wife, Betty, and Ernie Smith all of Barbourville, Preston Smith and wife, Mildred, of Flat Lick and Terry Smith of Barbourville; a brother-in-law, Jim Logsdon of Union; treasured grandchildren, T. J. Smith, Jesse Smith, Samantha Henry, Travis Hubbard and wife, Amanda, and Chase Hubbard; several nieces and nephews; among other loved ones and dear friends.
A graveside service will be conducted in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick Friday, December 1 at 12:30 P.M. with Rev. Kennon Roark and Rev. Donnie Mills officiating.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday after 11 A.M. until 12 Noon at which time family and friends will go together in procession to the cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
