Obituary for Letitia Goodin Merida (1967-2020)

Mrs. Letitia Goodin Merida, 53, of Bimble, passed away Monday morning, October 12, 2020 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.  She was the daughter of the late Joe Willard and Margaret Ellen Walker Goodin born on June 15, 1967 in Pineville.

Tish was a former special education teacher at Knox Central High School and a member of the First Christian Church of Barbourville.  She enjoyed arranging flowers, spending time with her grandchildren and her dog, Chewy.  Tish was often met by former students who would thank her for all that she had done for them as a teacher and friend.

On December 7, 1991, she united in marriage with Floyd Thomas Merida.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Angela Goodin and Sharon Merida and a brother-in-law, Johnny Merida.

Survivors include her loving husband, Tom of Bimble; two beloved children, Marla Miller and Garrett Bowling of Hazard and Amber Miracle and husband, Timmy, of Barbourville; three step-children, Steve Merida and wife, Annie, of Bimble, Jennifer Mosgrove of Wilmington, NC and Nancie Citty and husband, Chris, of Lexington; two sisters, Yolonda Poppell of Twentynine Palms, CA and Sandy Hicks and husband, Steven, of Lanesville, IN; three brothers, Patrick Goodin and Theresa of Hazard, Joe Goodin and wife, Evelyn, of Bimble and Tony Goodin and wife, Michelle, of Port Orange, FL; ten grandchildren, Mallory, Hunter, Matthew, Kali, Jordi, Darnay, Jon, Cheyenne, Makayla and Jessica; three great grandchildren; three nieces, Tabitha, Julia and Allie; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted at the First Christian Church of Barbourville Saturday, October 17 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Johnny Payne and Rev. Josh Smith officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Merida Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.  Honorary bearers will be the doctors and staff who have cared for her during her illness.

Friends may call at the church Friday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Saturday prior to the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to Union College, 310 College Street, Barbourville, KY 40906 for a scholarship fund in her memory.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
