Obituary for Lillie K. Cordell (1950-2025)

Barbourville, Ky. – Lillie K. Cordell, 75, of Corbin, departed this earthly life, Wednesday, July 23, 2025. Lillie K (Hensley) Cordell was born to Edna and Howard Hensley, in Harlan County, on April 14, 1950. Lillie, a social butterfly, loved life and lived hers to the fullest. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Tri-County Line Dancers, and a devoted member of the Old Time Missionary Baptist Church. Lillie loved the beach; Daytona was her favorite. And her Grandbabies, nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, especially those grans and greats. 

Left behind to mourn Lillie’s passing are her daughter, Tina Marie Hibbard and husband, Darryl and her son, Timothy Jay Cordell and wife, Beth; her sisters: Shirley Cordell; Carolyn Elam and husband, Chester; and Donna Hibbard and husband, Claude; her brothers: Ben Hensley and wife, Pat; Jack Hensley, Jim Hensley and wife, Janet, and Joe Hensley and wife, Linda. Five grandchildren: Jared Cordell, Ashley Driggers, Nick Hibbard, Amanda Roberts, and Tara Sturgill and three great-grandchildren: Zoe Centers, Bentley Roberts and Justin Sturgill also are left behind to mourn Lillie. 

Preceding Lillie in death are her beloved mother and father, Edna Whitaker Hensley and Howard Hensley; two brothers: Mike Hensley and Rick Hensley; and brother-in-law Walt Cordell.

The Cordell family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 27, 2025 from 12:00 pm until the funeral hour of 3:00 pm. Nick Hibbard, Mrs. Cordell’s, grandson, will officiate, accompanied by Reverend Don Farmer. Interment will follow in the Howard Hensley Cemetery, Barbourville, Kentucky. The family has chosen as Casket Bearers: Bart Elam, Benny Hensley, Michael Joe Hensley, Kelvin Hibbard, and Floyd Milwee.
