Mrs. Linda Mills Harris, 75, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 30, 2025 at the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 2, 1949 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late Ples and Mollie Smith Mills.
Linda was a former Head Start teacher. In earlier years, she attended with her children the Heidrick Holiness Church and later became a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Linda appreciated the simple things in life. She loved bingo nights, dancing to old favorites and never missed a good Western. She also had a sweet tooth and enjoyed snowball cakes, ice cream and a cold diet Mt. Dew. Linda also loved listening to gospel music.
On December 31, 1968, she united in marriage with Joel Clifford Harris and to this union four children were born. Later on July 6, 2006, she united in marriage with Larry Smith, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joey Harris; step-sons, Joshua Smith and Jerry Smith; brothers and sister, Donnie Mills, Charles Mills and Carolyn Asher; a brother-in-law, Johnny Roy Asher; a nephew, Randy Asher; and grandparents, Jeff and Cordia Mills and Archie and Anna Jane Smith.
Survivors include her loving children, Rodney Harris of Keavy, Kristi Hampton and husband, Sean, and Misty Harris and fiancé, Danny Jordan, all of Barbourville; a step-son, Larry Smith of Michigan; brother, Allen Mills and wife, Karen, of Gray; cherished grandchildren, Landon Harris, Mic Moore, Caitlin Johnson, Whitney Hampton, Nathan Carmack, Braydon Hubbard, Savannah Hamblin, Jordan Hampton, Logan Carmack, Molli Hampton, Josey, Conner and Colton Harris, Brooklyn and Lexi Smith; great grandchildren, Robbie, Kinzlee, Rylee, Grayson, Troy, Ryver, Drake, Reed, Avery, Joey and Wrenley Mae; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, September 5 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Herby Hoskins and Rev. Pat Chesnut officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Old Salem Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Landon Harris, Nathan Carmack, Braydon Hubbard, Jordan Hampton, Logan Carmack, Danny Jordan, Sean Hampton and Allen Mills. Serving as honorary bearers will be the staff of Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Friends may visit Thursday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
