Obituary for Lola Gaddis (1955-2026)

Mrs. Lola Gaddis, 70, of Gray, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2026 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  She was born September 25, 1955 in Knox County, the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie Smith Jordan.

On April 24, 1999, she united in marriage with James S. Gaddis.

Throughout her life, Lola previously managed the Methodist Mountain Mission and was a cosmetologist for a time. She and James enjoyed traveling together, especially to Florida to visit her son and grandchildren as well as Pigeon Forge on many occasions and many will remember her for her singing and love of music.

Lola was known for her gentle spirit, her beautiful singing voice and the role music played throughout her life. A member of Southeast Baptist Church, she shared her musical gifts through the years by playing the piano and singing.

Lola is survived by her devoted and loyal husband, James “Pepper” Gaddis, who faithfully cared for her with steadfast love; her daughter, Effie Cox and husband, Theodore; her son, Cody Hacker and wife, Nickie; grandchildren, Debra Mackayla Callebs, Tyler Callebs, Lynady Hacker and Cadyn Hacker and brother, Harold Jordan and wife, Joetta. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Little Bit, a constant companion who brought her comfort and joy.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, February 24 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Mike Griffis and Rev. Eddie Inman officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Calvin Jordan Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 12 Noon until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
