Obituary for Margaret Jean Abner Marion, 81

Barbourville, Ky. – On July 5th, 2022, Margaret Jean Abner Marion of Heidrick, Kentucky passed away peacefully at the age of 81 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Walter Marion. Margaret was the matriarch of her family and loved her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren more than life itself.

Margaret was the daughter of the late Tommy and Hilda Fisher Abner of Heidrick, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by three brothers; Jess Will Abner, Tommy Abner, and Michael Abner and two sisters Glenda Gaylord and Sandra Abner Bowman. She is survived by two brothers, Bee Abner and wife Helen of Heidrick, Kentucky and John Abner and wife Missy of Harlan, Kentucky. She is survived by two sisters Sabrina and husband Mitch Coldiron of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and Donna Perkins.

Margaret also left two sons and a daughter to mourn her passing: Mike Marion and wife Susie of Mt Sterling, Kentucky, Patrick and wife Patricia of Adrian, Michigan, and Patricia Marion Ramsey and husband Stephen Ramsey of Corbin, Kentucky.

Margaret loved her grandchildren and supported and shared in all their success and triumphs. Grandchildren include Kristina Marion Kegley and husband Curtis of Morehead, Kentucky, Jamie Marion and wife Tammy of Scalf, Kentucky, Cassie Ramsey of Corbin, Kentucky, Darcie Thompson and husband Truston of Palmersville, Tennessee, and Corie Marion of Adrian, Michigan.  She also had two chosen grandchildren, Jennifer Abner of Heidrick, Kentucky and Buddy and Wife Tracie Abner of Heidrick, Kentucky.

She also had seven great-grandchildren that meant the world to her. Those great-grandchildren are Noah Marion (Katie), Dalton Kegley, Dawson Kegley, Conor Marion, Cooper Kegley, Caden Marion, Drayson Thompson, and expectant great-grandchild Dixon Thompson. She also had three chosen great-grandchildren Emma Abner, Layne Bruner, and Ethan Abner.

The Marion Family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home, Friday, July 8, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM.  Reverend James Hodge will officiate and perform a musical tribute.  Interment will follow the funeral service in the Fisher Cemetery at Heidrick, Kentucky.  Pallbearers will be Sanford Abner, Ronnie Abner, Donnie Abner, Wayne Abner, EG Abner, Tommy Abner, Keith Abner, and Buddy Abner.  Honorary pallbearers will be Margaret’s beloved great-grandsons.

The family would like to thank UK Cancer Center, Brian Abner, PAC as well as Barbourville Family Health, and the ICU staff at Barbourville ARH. As well as all their friends and family who have loved and supported them.
