Obituary for Oscar “Jake” Carnes (1948-2019)

Mr. Oscar “Jake” Carnes age 70 of Walker, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, November 28, 2019 in the Claiborne Medical Center in Tazewell, Tennessee. He was the husband of Lydia Ann (Smith) Carnes and the son of Eli and Martha (Mills) Carnes born to them on December 18, 1948 in Walker, Kentucky. He loved classic cars and animals and especially loved spending time with family.

          He is preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Martha Carnes, one brother Harold Carnes and two sisters, Minnie Carnes and Ruby Carter.

          Left behind to mourn his passing, his loving wife Lydia Ann Carnes of Walker, three sons, Scott Carnes and wife Jessica of Piqua, Ohio, Oscar Carnes, Jr. and wife Charlotte of Walker and Charles Carnes and wife Melanie of Tazewell, Tennessee, two daughters, Brenda McCarthy and Randy Jones of Harrogate, Tennessee and Linda Burdick and husband Troy of Sioux City, Iowa, one brother, Sammie Carnes and wife Sherry of Walker and four sisters, Anna Mae Messer of Barbourville, Tammy Jones and husband Jim of Corbin, Wanda Mills of Bimble, Pam Hubbard and husband Wayne of Barbourville and Norma Carnes of Corbin. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

          Funeral services for Mr. Oscar Carnes will be conducted in the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Ronnie Sizemore and Rev. Ed Wayne Gibson officiating. Pallbearers will be Sammie Carnes, Scott Carnes, Dustin Carnes, Dewayne Hubbard, John Wayne Mills, Dickie Messer, Tyler Messer, Bill Joe Bingham and Landon Heck. He will be laid to rest in the Carnes Cemetery at Walker. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

         Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 noon.
