Mr. Oscar M. Bartolo, 92, of Heidrick, passed away Thursday morning, June 5, 2025 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was born March 8, 1933 in Pineville, the son of the late Leo Rudolph and Elsie Blanton Bartolo.
Oscar was a former Cadillac Union Representative, a member of the Cornerstone Church of God and Mountain Lodge 187 F & AM. He enjoyed gardening, tending goats, fishing and sitting on the porch swing. For many years, he and his wife owned and operated Big O’s Market. Oscar faithfully served his country in the United States Navy.
On March 24, 1951, he united in marriage with June Jenett Merida, who preceded him in death.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sons, Danny and Leo R. Bartolo; sisters, Anna Mae Walker and Mary Osborne; a brother, Leo R. Bartolo; a granddaughter, Dana Collier; grandsons, Scott and Jeffery Bartolo and a great granddaughter, Brittney Bartolo.
Survivors include his children, Jerry Bartolo of Heidrick and Carolyn Cumberledge of South Carolina; sisters, Ada Leger and husband, Raymond, of Barbourville, Joyce Hubbard and Lois Rice both of Corbin; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; a special friend, Debbie Mills; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Thursday, June 12 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Leslie Broughton officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Thursday prior to the funeral hour.
