Mrs. Pauline Hammons, 85, of Barbourville, passed away Saturday evening, August 15, 2026 at the Christian Health Center in Corbin. She was the daughter of the late John and Tressie Smith Warren born January 26, 1941 in Knox County.
Pauline was a retired teacher from Jesse D. Lay Elementary School.
On August 26, 1961, she united in marriage with Dwaine Hammons, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Joe and Ester Hammons, brothers, John Warren Jr. and Randall Warren and sisters, Prudy Bundy and Barbara Hale.
Survivors include her loving son, Jeffery Hammons and wife, Julie, of Marietta, OH; sister, Patsy Fuson and husband, Jim; brother, Rufford Warren and wife, Betty; cherished grandchildren, Jared Hammons and wife, Olivia and Justin Hammons; great-grandchildren, Brooks and Rhys Hammons; sister and brother-in-law, Larry and Marva Davis; among other relatives and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, August 19 at 12 Noon with Rev. Josh Smith officiating. She will be laid to rest in the W. H. Smith Memorial Gardens.
Casket bearers will be her grandsons and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Larry, Marva, Patsy and Jim for the excellent care they provided to Pauline.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
