Obituary for Reed Stewart (1947-2026)

Mr. Reed Stewart, age 78 , of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was the widower of Joyce Elaine Stewart and the son of Noah and Isabella (Mills) Stewart born to them on November 19, 1947 in Knox County, Kentucky.

Reed was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, bee keeping, going to church, trading on guns and knives, watching old westerns and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a craftsman and took pride in a well-ordered home and life.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Stewart, his parents, Noah and Isabella Stewart, two sisters, Betty Lou Bingham and Glenda Deaton, a brother Earl Brook Stewart, and three infant siblings, Max Dale Stewart, Raymond Stewart, and Patsy Ann Stewart and one grandson Tanner Blake Stewart.

Left behind to mourn his passing, two daughters, Debbie Deaton and husband Earnest Ray of Girdler, and Lisa Stewart of Jarvis, three sons, Steven Stewart and wife Liz , Rodney Stewart and wife Stacy all of Jarvis and Bobby Lee Eversole of Greenroad, three brothers, Otis Stewart and Larry Stewart both of Greenroad and Darrell Stewart of Manchester, two sisters, Mary Ellen Deaton of Cannon and Edna Dean of Manchester, seven grandchildren, Natasha Mahan and husband Justin, Felicia Gittens and husband Brian, Angel Sabbatis and husband Dustin, Brittany Eversole and husband Anthony, Chrystal Bentley and fiance’ Tyrone Rhodes, Ashley Scott and Tyler Stewart, thirteen great-grandchildren, Aidan, Patrick, Felix, Ryland, Emery, Blakely, Axel, Kayson, Ellie, Brayden, Joseph, Tristan and Elania, a special friend Larry Gibson along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Reed Stewart will be conducted on Thursday, April 16, 2026 in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Stewart-Deaton Cemetery on Leo Hampton Rd. Pallbearers will be Tyler Stewart, Justin Mahan, Anthony Eversole, Michael Deaton, Kevin Bargo, Michael Scott, Josh Bargo and Brian Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be, Josh Miller, Earnest Ray Deaton and all his family & friends.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
