Obituary for Rev. Loren E. Camfield (1934-2026)

Rev. Loren E. Camfield age 91 of Cannon, Kentucky departed this life on January 25, 2026, at the home of his daughter in Cannon.

Rev. Camfield was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on October 22, 1934 to the late Elmer and Loretta Marth Kveen Camfield.

He was a member of Williams Memorial Baptist Church, he enjoyed reading and listening to the BIBLE, woodworking and spending time with family and friends.

On September 1, 1956, he married the love of his life Barbara J. Hallers Camfield and to this union 5 precious children were born.

Loren worked with his dad and brother in their plastering business in Winthrop Harber, Illinois. Later on, he felt the LORD calling him into the ministry and in 1972, he and his family moved to Pineville, Kentucky where he attended Clear Creek Baptist school and EKU in Richmond, Kentucky. He pastored churches in Kentucky and Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 65 years, Barbara Jean Hallers Camfield, his parents, an infant son, Daniel Camfield, two brothers; Virgil Camfield and Al Camfield. Two grandchildren; Megan Camfield of Dayton, Ohio and Daniel Melton of Middlesboro, Kentucky, two twin great grandchildren, his in laws, Virgil and Nina Hallers, sibling-in-laws; Wesley and Lula Calhoun, Carl Hallers and Luther “Buck” Moler.

Loren leaves behind his loving children; two daughters; Debra Melton and husband Steve Snodgrass of Greenville, Tennessee, and Jodi Simpson and husband Johnny of Cannon, Kentucky, two sons; David Camfield of Irvine, Kentucky and Phillip Camfield and wife Hope of Dayton, Ohio, 4 grandchildren, great grandchildren, a very special nephew; Urick “Ricky” and wife Jessica of Mayslick, Kentucky, along with numerous friends to mourn him and to miss his passing. A special thank you to Sherelene Fortney and Ashley.

The family has requested that all services to be private.

Pallbearers will be his sons and sons-in-law.
