Obituary for Ricky Lee Townsley (1967-2021)

Mr. Ricky Lee Townsley, 54, of Barbourville, passed away August 19, 2021 at Baptist Health in Corbin.  He was the son of Frank and Lorraine Townsley born on June 5, 1967 in Barbourville.

He was an avid sports fan who loved Knox Central, U.K., the Reds, the Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon.

He was a member of the Beacon Baptist Church in Barbourville, where he worked in the media room. He was also an active member of Committee 101 for 23 years.

He was a devoted family man who loved his parents, wife, children and grandchildren with all his heart.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Dee Townsley and Grace and Fount Mills; his mother-in-law, Marlene Spice and brother-in-law, Chuck Spice.

He is survived by his parents, Frank and Lorraine Townsley; his wife of 22 years, Amy Spice Townsley; his children, Austin Townsley, Adam Townsley and wife Paige, Alan Townsley and wife, Haley and Kayla Townsley all of Barbourville; a brother, Jeff Townsley and wife, Brandi, of Greenville, TN; sisters-in-law, Catie Durst and husband, John, of Pennsylvania, Sarah Schwerin and husband, Matt, of Florida and Audie Farrington and husband, Craig, of Indiana; his grandchildren, Baylee, Braxton, Braylen, Brenna, Branson, Peyton and Gus all of Barbourville; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends to mourn his passing.

His funeral service will be conducted at the Beacon Baptist Church Monday, August 23  at 3:00 P.M. with Bro. Dennis Chestnut, Bro. Charles Calloway and Bro. Pat Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Donnie Corbin, Mark Rogers, Chad Wagner, Kevin Rogers, John Durst, Travis Rogers, Blake Mills, Tyler Mills, Jake Knuckles and Dennis Rogers.

The family of Mr. Ricky Lee Townsley will receive friends at the Beacon Baptist Church Sunday from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

The family respectfully requests that all visitors at the visitation and funeral service wear a facial covering.
