Mr. Robert Smith, age 88 of Flat Rock, Michigan and formally of Knox County, departed this life on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 in Trenton, Michigan.
He was born on August 16, 1937 in Knox County, Kentucky, the son of Abe & Allie Smith both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Ada Messer Smith, one son Jerry Smith, his twin brother J.S. Smith and brother Ken Smith, his sisters Lena Trent and Odie Abner, one grandson Steven Smith and his step mother Hazel Smith, brother in laws; Gibb Hensley, Wayne Keen, G.C. Trent & Duck Abner, sister in law Myrtle Smith and a daughter in law Judy Smith.
Survivors include his wife Betty Jane Smith, his children: Marlene Marcum and Troy, Wendell Smith and Mindy, Wanda Sue Reeves and Mike and Allen Smith and Flora all of Flat Lick, Kentucky. His sisters: Emma Keen of Buzzard and Barb Hensley of Girdler, 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, his extended family in Michigan and his beloved dog Dexter.
Funeral services for Mr. Robert Smith will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Monday – June 8, 2026 in the chapel of Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home with Rev. Gilbert Collins and Rev. Bill Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Isaac Messer Cemetery at Dewitt. The family of Mr. Robert Smith will receive friends on Sunday – June 7, 2026 at the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home from 6:00 To 9:00 P.M.
