Ruby Evelyn Mabe Mills, 88, of Gray, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2026, at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky.
Born May 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William Leslie Mabe and Dorothy Jane Robinson Mabe.
In addition to her father and mother, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Doc Mills; three brothers: Roy Mabe, Luther Mabe, and Bill Mabe; and her sister, Irene Mabe Smith.
She leaves behind her children: Timothy Mills and wife Brenda of Gray, Kentucky, Kimberly Mills Allen and husband James of London, Kentucky, and Michael Mills of Gray, Kentucky; five grandchildren: Christopher Mills and wife Shannon, Justin Mills and wife Sarah, Michael Allen and wife Angela, Amanda Mills, and Brooklyn Mills; 13 great-grandchildren: Madison Mills, Ryleigh Mills, Payton Mills, Paisleigh Mills, Callie Mills, Lincoln Mills, Mackenzie Allen, Evan Allen, Ian Smith, Emma Williams, Michaela Williams, Raylee Rimas, and Austin Phipps; and brother, Donnie Mabe.
Ruby always told many she met about the Lord and that the way to Heaven is through Christ alone. Her life was a witness without her having to say a word. As she entered Heaven, no doubt the Lord said, “Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
She loved her grandchildren so dearly. Each day was an adventure at Mamaw’s house. She was so proud of them. She also cherished her great-grandchildren. Each grandchild and great-grandchild loved her just the same.
She was always a very hard worker, no matter what she tackled. Tasks that were hard work but a hobby to her were gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, and cooking the most delicious meals at family gatherings. She always shared her meals with friends and neighbors.
Her family knew she was happy in the Lord because she sang song after song about Him. Right up to the time the Lord called her home, she was still singing.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the 3rd-floor staff at Christian Health Center for the kindness and compassion shown to their mother and ask God’s blessing on each one. They would also like to express their appreciation to the ER staff, nurses, and CNAs on 3 North at Baptist Health Corbin for the kindness shown to their mother and them, going beyond the call of duty.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Glen Wilson and Kenny Johnson officiating. Entombment will follow in Gray Cemetery with Christopher Mills, Justin Mills, Payton Mills, Ian Smith, Michael Allen, and James Allen serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 P.M. Monday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin. The family will also receive friends from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour at Noon on Tuesday.
