Obituary for Shelby Jean Troutman (1950-2023)

Mrs. Shelby Jean Troutman, 73, of Jonestown, passed away Sunday morning, December 24, 2023 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Link and Phebe Syme Hurst born on August 22, 1950 at Wheeler.

Shelby was a homemaker and a member of the Trosper Church of God.  She truly enjoyed her time at home and being with her cherished family.

On June 8, 1968, she united in marriage with Charles Ray Troutman and to this union three children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sister, Lora Simpson and husband, Bob; brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Hurst and a brother-in-law, William Lake.

Survivors include her loving children, Charles V. Troutman of Jonestown, Jean Poindexter and husband, Terry, and Scott Troutman all of Wheeler; four sisters, Wava Lake of Warren Camp, Violet Peace and husband, Stanley, and Sue Brooks all of Artemus and Margaret Trent and husband, Nicky, of Woollum; five brothers, Johnny Hurst and wife, Pansy, of Augusta, Wade Hurst and wife, Mickey, of Kay Jay, Stanley Hurst and wife, Shirley, of Hamilton, OH, David Hurst and wife, Mary, of Trosper and Bill Hurst and wife, Rosene, of Corbin; grandchildren, Alex Poindexter and wife, Kelsey, Lacey Troutman, Destiny Brock and husband, Jacob, and Hunter Troutman; great grandchildren, Jerry Brock and Waylen Troutman; among other loved ones and dear friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, December 31 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Tim Hurst officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Croley Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Robert Dunaway, Alex Poindexter, Terry Poindexter, Paul Hurst, Jacob Brock and Danny Taylor.  Honorary bearers will be her family and friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Sunday prior to the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
