Obituary for Shirley Rose Wilson (1940-2025)

Mrs. Shirley Rose Wilson, 85, of Louisville and Girdler, returned to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. She was born on August 28, 1940, in Liberty, to the late William and Susie Godbey Chansler.

Shirley was a member of Hiawatha Missionary Baptist Church and attended Dripping Springs Baptist Church at Hinkle. She loved to read and visit Goodwill and thrift stores. Shirley spent many years taking care of her sister, Esther, whom she loved like a daughter, tirelessly and patiently attending to Esther’s needs. She was an “angel on earth” and had the most welcoming smile. Shirley loved to cook for her church families and will always be remembered for her special cheese ball. She always welcomed anyone, treating her grandchildrens’ friends like they were her own. Her loving nature and generosity will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, J.R. Chansler, Oval Chansler, June Mills, Esther Chansler, Louise Mills, Lee Chansler and Ray Chansler.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Maretta Wilson and Billy Coslow; son, Steve Chansler and Margie; grandchildren, Steven, Amie Beth and Johnny, Maranda, Emily and Brandon, Natalie and Brantley; great-grandchildren, Blake, Remi, Malia and Leo; niece and caregiver, Shelia Smith and Dewayne and a host of other family and friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd) Sunday, December 14 at 4 P.M. with Rev. Dewayne Smith officiating.

Friends may visit at the Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home Sunday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Additionally, friends may visit at the Knox Funeral Home Monday between 5 and 8 P.M.

A graveside service will be held in the Trace Fork Cemetery in Liberty Tuesday, December 15 at 12 Noon.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
