Obituary for Thomas Barnes Jr. (1939-2019)

Mr. Thomas Barnes Jr., 80, of Barbourville, passed away Monday evening, November 11, 2019 at the Barbourville ARH Hospital.  He was the son of the late Thomas Barnes Sr. and Ann Marie White Barnes born on November 1, 1939 in Cadiz.

Thomas was a former brick mason and a member of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church.  He was an avid UK and Golden State Warriors fan.

On May 29, 1993, he united in marriage with Connie Sue Clark.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Marquitta Hoskins and Debra “Daisy” Clark; three brothers, Marice Thomas, William Barnes and Marsheld Thomas; in-laws, James and Stella Stone Clark; a son-in-law, Buster Cornett and a brother-in-law, Cliff Johnson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Connie Sue Barnes of Barbourville; two children, Donna Jean Cornett and Lakenya Jacara Clark Martinez and husband, Willie, of Cookeville, TN; two sisters, Jacqueline Onita Wright of Indianapolis, IN and Suzane Johnson of Barbourville; two brothers, John W. Barnes and wife, Ann, of Elizabethtown and Mark A. Thomas of Williamsburg; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; among other loved ones and dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted at the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church Saturday, November 16 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Craig Clark and Rev. Bill Engle officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Rosenwald Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Michael Johnson, Chris Clark, Tony Bledsoe, Bo Grubb, Robert Johnson, Charlie Barnes, Landon Hughes and Craig Allen.  Honorary bearers will be members of the Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church and his friends and neighbors.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday between 6 and 9 P.M. and at the church Saturday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may go to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
