Mrs. Wanda Carnes Mills, 73, of Bimble, passed away Monday, October 14, 2025 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was born March 29, 1952 in Knox County, the daughter of the late Eli and Martha Mills Carnes.
Wanda was a former cashier at the Methodist Mountain Mission. She took great joy in cooking and found great fulfillment in caring for her grandchildren, as well as the many other children she lovingly nurtured and helped raise over the years.
On November 7, 1970, she united in marriage with Alfred Wayne Mills.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; sisters, Minnie Carnes, Ruby Carter and Ann Messer and brothers, Harold and Oscar Jake Carnes.
Survivors include her loving son, John Wayne Mills and wife, Chelica, of Bimble; sisters, Pam Hubbard of Barbourville, Norma Messer of Corbin, Tammy Jones and husband, Jim, of Corbin; a brother, Sammy Carnes and wife, Sherry, of Walker; cherished grandchildren, Jeremy Messer and wife, Amanda, Mikey Mills and wife, Ashley, Summer Mills and Jaxten Mills; great grandchildren, Kalani Boyd, Emily and Evan Mills; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, October 21 at 1 P.M. with Rev. David Mounce officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Eli Carnes Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday after 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
