Mrs. Wanda Faye Shelton, 80, of Heidrick, passed away Thursday morning, January 8, 2026 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was born March 20, 1945 in Oneida, the daughter of the late Henry and Maggie Ferguson Denham.
Wanda was a former seamstress with Warner’s and a member of the Young Grove Baptist Church. She found immense joy in the small things, whether it was visiting yard sales, collecting dolls, tending to her beloved flowers or enjoying her favorite games on her iPad. Wanda’s love for her family was unmatched, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
On December 22, 1963, she united in marriage with Curtis Shelton, who preceded her in death.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Grover Denham, Charles Denham, Goldie Piorkowski, Shirley Wells, Ruby Jackson and Billy Lee Denham.
Survivors include her loving children, Teresa Faye Carnes and husband, Ellis, Janice Shelton, Angela Shelton Elliott and husband, Johnny, and Melissa Moren and husband, Corey, all of Barbourville; a brother, James Denham and wife, Jewel, of Jackson County; cherished grandchildren, Presley Branstutter and husband, Richard, Kristin Broughton and husband, Zach, C. J. Carnes and husband, Trent, Devin Thompson and wife, McKayla, Taylor Moren, Bella Shelton, Ashley Wilson and husband, Austin, Brittany Rice and husband, Josh, and Ebony Castle; great grandchildren, Bailee, Reign, Zayne and Dream Branstutter, Karsyn and Kenton Broughton, Addy Baker, Gracie Slusher and Lainey Wilson; her companion, Jasper Spurlock; special friends, Sue Hobbs Reeves, Stephanie Tye, Tonyia Wilson and Melinda Pierce; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Tuesday, January 13 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Mike Collins officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Ellis Carnes, Johnny Elliott, Corey Moren, Terry McNamara, Devin Thompson and Zach Broughton. Honorary bearers will be her healthcare providers and caregivers, who have taken such great care of her over the years.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Tuesday between 11 A.M. and 2 P.M.
