Obituary for Whittley Stamper (1964-2025)

Whittley Stamper, age 61 of Gray was born in Knox County, KY on February 3, 1964 to John D. and Margaret Messer Stamper and departed this life on June 6, 2025 at his home.  He was of the Holiness Faith and enjoyed fishing, working on Model Cars, working on cars, and time with family and friends.

In addition to his father: John D. Stamper; his grandparents: Everett and Mary Stamper, and Luther and Gracie Frederick preceded him in death.

Whitley is survived by his loving wife of 35 years: Sherry Lynn Stamper of Gray; his mother: Margaret Hyatt of Barbourville; his children: Timothy James Bright of Gray, Dalton Shane Bright and wife Whitney of Artemus, Daniel Ray Stamper of Heidrick, Jacob Baker, Joshua Baker, TyJuan Manning, and Deltone Thomas all of Gray; 2 sisters: Tina Disney of Flat Lick, and Geneva Monroe and husband Mark of Swan Pond; 2 grandchildren: Abigail Faith Bright, and Kaelyn Danielle Bright; other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Mr. Whittley Stamper will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Leslie Broughton and Rev. Brian Broughton officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery with Michael Hooker, Aaron Scott, Joshua Baker, Dalton Bright, Timothy Bright, and Daniel Stamper serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends will be received Friday Evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to the funeral hour at 2.
