Obituary for William Millard “Red” Smith (1967-2024)

Mr. William Millard “Red” Smith, age 56 was born in Manchester, KY on October 11, 1967 to the late Rev. Hobert Smith and Marie Smith and departed this life on April 20, 2024 in the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.  He was a member of Concord Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, working on cars, and time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, 2 brothers: James Edward Smith, and Carl Frank Smith; and a brother-in-law: Rodney Watts preceded him in death.

Red is survived by his loving wife of over 33 years: Priscilla Root Smith of Flat Lick; 2 sons: Harrison Carl Smith of Greenroad, and William Franklin Smith and wife Kyla of Girdler; 4 daughters: Ashlie Nicole Mills and husband Mike of Bimble, Shannon Kaye Greene and husband William of Ingram, and Ami Danta Lea Hobbs and husband John, and Cindy Jean Fanney and husband Ramon all of Flat Lick; 3 brothers: Hobert Smith and wife Nellie of Leatherwood, KY, Johnny Smith and wife Pricilla of Hinkle, and Eugene Jenkins and wife Cora of Flat Lick; a sister Mamie Marie Smith-Watts of Vicco, KY; 20 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Mr. William “Red” Smith will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 4:30 PM with Rev. Eric Jordan officiating.  Burial will follow in the Betty Frost Cemetery with Michael Mills, William Greene, John Hobbs, William Franklin Smith, Harrison Smith, Kayson Greene, and Dylan Root serving as Pallbearers.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Barbourville Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 PM to the funeral hour at 4:30.
