Sonny Hayes Announces His Candidacy for Knox County Coroner

Knox County Clerk Mike Corey confirms that Mr. Sonny Hayes (R) has filed to seek the office of Coroner in the 2018 election.

The following statement was provided by Mr. Hayes:

Sonny Hayes was born in Louisville Kentucky in August 1981, to William and Elizabeth Rice Hayes, and his grandparents Edward and Doris Henson Rice, but was raised in Barbourville. This location is important to know and understand the background of Sonny Hayes. Sonny comes from a long line of hard-working men and women. Sonny’s Great grandpa, old man Daw Henson, was a well known stonemason, and he’s Legacy still stands today. Barbourville city school Gym, and many other buildings and structures can still be seen today. And old man Dow Hanson received the Kentucky colonel because of the things he done for the people. Sonny’s Great grandmother, Lettie Messer Rice, that was a midwife in stinking Creek that would go anytime day or night to give needed help to neighbors. At a young age Sonny developed a rich base singing voice, and would use his talent to help many people that was in need. Singing at funerals, benefit singing’s for churches and people. For the past 4 years, Sonny has worked at a local funeral home, and is very compassionate and helpful to grieving families in their time of need. Just like his ancestors, Sonny Will go out of his way to help someone.
