Barbourville High School Odyssey of the Mind Team named KY State Champs

Barbourville High School Odyssey of the Mind Team named KY State Champs in Division lll Problem 4 at the KY OM State competition on March 23rd. The State Competition was held at Martha Lane Collins High School in Shelbyville.

The problem was described from the state website as:

Problem 4: Structure Toss
Step right up and put your structure to the test! Teams must strategize risk for points and “toss” their structures in this year’s problem-turned-carnival. They will use a device to propel the structure in a carnival game. If it travels in the air it gets higher score! Once the structure has been successfully tossed, it can be tested for strength. A carnival barker character will entice other characters to join the fun during a performance that incorporates testing the structure’s strength with creative games of skill and chance. Divisions I, II, III & IV.

The BHS teams structure held 400 lbs!!!

The Team also earned the highest spontaneous score of the competition and will advance to the Odysessy of the Mind World Competition which will be held on the campus of Michigan State University May 22-26.
