Death Investigation Update: Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins confirmed that the body was Stacy Hobbs, 33, of Barbourville

Swan Pond, Ky. February 11, 2018) On February 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan was notified that a female was found deceased behind Swan Pond Baptist Church off of Ky South 11 in the Swan Pond community of Knox County. Troopers and Detectives from Post 10 responded to the location.

Preliminary investigation indicates at 11:00 a.m. a Swan Pond Baptist Church member located a deceased female behind the church lying next to the river. The female was lying in a drainage ditch that discharges into the Cumberland River.

Knox County Coroner Mike Blevins confirmed that the body was Stacy Hobbs, 33, of Barbourville. The body will be sent to Frankfort to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and to find out the cause of death. KSP along with the Coroner’s Office doesn’t feel that the death is a result from the flooding. Foul play can’t be determined at this time.

Also assisted at the scene were Knox County Sheriff’s Dept. and Knox County Coroner’s Office.
