Flash Flood in Kay Jay Community damages homes and roads.

A flash flood tore through the Kay Jay Community in Knox County on Sunday, July 7, 2019. Officials said that the rain came in as little as 30 minutes and devastated many homes and roadways leaving some residents without electricity. Roads were impassable for several hours. No reports of injuries at this time however there was extensive damage to several homes and several pets were reported missing.

Clean up was underway by the Knox County Road Department and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to ensure safe access into the area.

Larger items such as furniture can be donated but they do ask that you call (606) 620-4002 or 627-7170  to schedule a time for the item to be picked up. They can not take large items at the store.
