Missing their MVP, the Lynn Camp Lady Cats rallied from a six-run deficit for a dramatic 9-8 extra-inning victory over Jackson County on Tuesday for their seventh win of the season.

The Lady Cats, who lost last year’s MVP Makenzie Grant earlier in the game when she fell ill, rallied from six runs down to tie the game in the late innings before winning it in the ninth.

Sophomore Julia Shepherd singled in the bottom of the third extra frame to drive home freshman Annabelle Jones with the game’s winning run.

Freshman Hanna Lay knocked in the game-tying run in the bottom of the sixth to force extra innings. She drove home senior center-fielder Erin Holland, who got the inning started with a triple.

Shepherd led the Lady Cats’ offense with three hits and an RBI in five at bats.

Holland and junior first baseman Kaley Hendrickson both finished with two hits and two runs scored each. Hendrickson also had an RBI. Freshman Gabby Carollo added two hits and one run scored for the winners.

Halle Mills, Hanna Lay, Katie Miller and Dozier all added one hit apiece for Lynn Camp.  Lay knocked in two runs with her hit. Dozier drove in one. Miller scored a run.

Roberts went the distance on the mound, allowing just two earned runs and one walk in nine innings. She sent 10 Jackson County players to the dugout via strike out.

With the win, Lynn Camp improved to 7-6.
