Mr. Alfred Lee Smith, 84, of Gray, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026. Born September 4, 1941, in Sexton Creek, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Hardin and Myrtle Smith.
In addition to his father and mother, Alfred was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Lee Smith; three brothers: Eugene Smith, Earl Smith and Leonard Smith and his sister, Eulene Smith.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Judy Lee Smith; son, Michael Smith and wife, Sherri, of London; daughter, Sherri Smith-Scalf of Gray; son, Alfred Lee Smith II and wife, Stephanie, of Summerville, SC; special son, James “Jay” Smith and wife, Brandie, of Gray; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Kyle, Jonah, Jordyn, Joshua, Jade, Victoria Elizabeth and Amber; six great-grandchildren, Adleigh, Eloise “Ellie,” Paisley, Trey, Aubrey and Conor; two great-great grandchildren, Journee and Remington; three sisters, Christine Lockhart, Vada Norman and husband, Bill, and Gladys Smith; and three brothers, Ray Smith, Ernie Smith and Hayden Smith.
Alfred was a member of Candle Ridge Baptist Church and a proud member of a Masonic lodge for 60 years.
Alfred was a hard-working man who was retired from Tru Seal (Tremco). An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting. However, more than anything else, Alfred loved spending time with his beloved family.
Alfred was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 5, 2026, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Broughton and Dr. Keaton Smith officiating, beginning with a Masonic service by the 751 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge. Burial will follow in Candle Ridge Cemetery with grandsons serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
