Mr. Arvil Messer, 76, of Hinkle, passed away Tuesday morning, September 8 at his home. He was the son of the late Luther and Martha Mills Messer born March 29, 1950 at Green Road.
Arvil was a former dozer operator and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. He enjoyed fox hunting and most cherished time spent with his grand children and great-grandchildren.
On May 13, 1967 he united in marriage with Della Mae Mills.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Della, son, Arvil Rodney Messer, daughter, Cathy Bunch, great-grandson, Andrew Jackson, brothers, Johnny, Luther Jr. and Floyd Messer, sisters, Cledia Jackson, Marie Charles and Helen Haynes and brothers-in-law, Lonnie Jackson, Wayne Haynes and Gary Charles.
Survivors include his loving daughters, Martha Jordan and husband, Derrick, of Barbourville and Debbie Jackson and husband, Larry, of Gray; son-in-law, Dale Bunch of Green Road; sisters-in-law, Dora Faye Messer of Earlville, IL and Helen Fay Messer of Girdler; brothers, Jimmy Messer and wife, Christine, of Girdler, Chester Messer of Barbourville and Dexter Messer and wife, Sue, of Hinkle; cherished grandchildren, Raven Engle and husband, Kyle, Adam Jackson and Sarah Tye, Christian Bunch and wife, Alexus, Dalton Bunch and fiancé, Bry McCombs, Payton Jordan and Raymond Jordan; great-grandchildren, Aurora, Jeremiah and Asteria Jackson, Slade Bunch and Jovi James Engle; among other loved ones and dear friends.
His funeral service will be conducted at the Parkway Baptist Church Friday, Spetember 11 at 1 P.M. with Rev. Tommy Frazier and Rev. Roy Eversole officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Messer Cemetery.
Friends may visit at the church Thursday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Friday prior to the funeral hour.
Serving as casket bearers will be his grandsons and neighbors. Honorary bearers are Rodney Smith and the staff of Bluegrass Care Navigators.
Contributions are welcome to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
