Obituary for Danny Wayne Hubbard ((1967-2026)

Mr. Danny Wayne Hubbard, 59, of Barbourville, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 6, 2026 at his home. He was the son of the late Lowell and Genople Lawson Hubbard born May 27, 1967 in Ohio.

Danny Wayne was a one-of-a-kind character who lived life on his own terms. He had a lifelong love of hot rods and enjoyed buying, selling, and trading anything. Danny also loved a good drink and the many friendships and adventures that came along the way. At one time, he was known as one of the biggest bootleggers in Knox County, a colorful part of the life and times that made him the unforgettable man so many knew and loved.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Helton Hubbard.

Survivors include his loving children, Danny Wayne Hubbard Jr. and wife, Savannah, of Barbourville, Alvin Hubbard and wife, Jenny, and Mercadies Hensley and husband, Brent, all of Gray; sisters, Melissa Blakely and husband, Andrew, of Hinkle and Rita Kay Kysar and husband, Tony, of Woodbine; brothers, Roger Hubbard and wife, Lisa, of Gray, Junior Hubbard and wife, Debbie, of Stinking Creek, and Randy Hubbard of Barbourville; cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Brooklyn, Harper, Jax, Dawson and Maggie Hubbard and Brentlee, Brody “PeeWee”, Abby and Gabby Hensley; among other relatives and dear friends.

His celebration of life will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Friday, September 11 at 12 Noon. with Rev. Tom Patterson and Rev. Joey Woolum officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Trosper-Jackson Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday between 6 and 8 P.M. and Friday after 10 A.M. until the service time.

Serving as casket bearers will be Alvin Hubbard, Danny Hubbard Jr., Hunter Hubbard, Noah Woolum, Brentlee Hensley, Brody Hensley, Jeremy Magee and Robert Hammons.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
