Mrs. Brenda Ann Smith, 76, of Himyar, passed away Friday evening, October 2, 2026 at her home. She was born June 28, 1950 in Barbourville, the daughter of the late James and Nona Collins Broyles.
Brenda was a loving homemaker and attended the First Baptist Church of Barbourville. She enjoyed homemaking and tending her flowers. She most loved spending time with and dearly loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family.
On July 21, 1966, she united in marriage with Larry Roger Smith Sr. in Cleveland, OH and to this union five children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; a son, Scotty Lee Smith Sr.; sisters, Linda Powers and Kathy Broyles and grandchildren, Dillon Gray, Hope and Faith Smith.
Survivors include her loving children, Melony Gray and Larry Smith both of Barbourville, Rhonda Broughton and husband, Tim, of Artemus and Janice Smith and husband, Gary, of Barbourville; a sister, Georgia Donaldson and husband, Donnie, of Barbourville; a brother, Rev. Lonnie Broyles and wife, Rosie, of Keavy; 18 grandchildren, Daniel Gray and wife, Kaitlyn, Casey Honeycutt, Dustin Smith and wife, Makayla, Scotty Smith, Joshua Smith and wife, Brittney, Travis Smith, Brenda Broughton, Victoria Ferro and husband, Darren, Amber Sturgill and husband, Hunter, Andrew Smith and wife, Katlyn, Dalton, Charity, Sarah, Jacob and Patience Smith; 23 great grandchildren, Michael and Weston Gray, Avery, Ayden, Madison, Carson, Kendall, Journee, Spencer, Jagger, Aspen, Raylene, Ella and Ally Smith, Abby Bargo and husband, Noah, Layla, Emmalyn and Jeremiah Smith, Timmy Broughton, Kaidence Ferro, Mayson, Levi and Elli Sturgill; great-great granddaughter, Kinsley Rogers; a special friend of over 55 years, who was like a daughter, Cynthia Wymer and her daughter, Jenny Klatik, who she loved as a granddaughter; among other loved ones and dear friends.
Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Wednesday, October 7 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Rick Thomas and Rev. Lonnie Broyles officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Scotty Smith, Joshua Smith, Travis Smith, Timmy Broughton, Andrew Smith, Daniel Gray, Jacob Smith and Dalton Smith.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday between 6 and 9 P.M. and Wednesday prior to the funeral hour.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
