Obituary for Charlene Hinkle Smith (1950-2019)

Mrs. Charlene Hinkle Smith, age 69 of Flat Lick, was born in Barbourville, KY on May 15, 1950 to the late Charlie Hinkle and Gertrude Smith Hinkle and departed this life on November 13, 2019 at her home.  She was a member of Cornerstone Church of God and enjoyed sewing, collecting antique figurines, caring for children, playing guitar and singing in her church, was a loving wife and mother, and loved spending time with family and friends.

 

In addition to her parents: Charlie and Gertrude Hinkle; 4 brothers: Cledo Hinkle, Matthew Hinkle, Ernest Hinkle, and C D Hinkle; a sister: Shirley Sproles; a sister-in-law: Barbara Hinkle; and a brother-in-law: Rev. Gilbert Sproles preceded her in death.

 

She is survived by her loving husband: Aubrey Smith of Flat Lick; 2 sons: Johnnie Carnes and wife Megan of Athens, GA, and David Carnes and wife Maggie of Flat Lick; a daughter: Sherry Stamper and husband Whittley of Flat Lick; a brother: Larry Hinkle and wife Glenda of Barbourville; 2 sisters: Agnes Merida and husband Wayne of Heidrick, and Judy Smith and husband Jr. of Girdler; 11 grandchildren: Jonathan Carnes, Joshua Carnes, Jeremy Carnes, Myranda Carnes, Barry Hinkle, Danielle Carnes, Hannah Warren, Cindy Warren, Timothy Bright, Dalton Shane Bright, and Daniel Ray Stamper; 12 great grandchildren: Reagen Carnes, Simon Carnes, Amory Woods, Aeary Woods, Peter Carnes, Remy Carnes, Judah Carnes, Finn Carnes, Auron Woods, Abigail Hinkle, Abigail Bright, and Kaelyn Bright; 2 Foster Daughters: Shelby Ghent and Bailey Bishop; and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Charlene Smith will be conducted in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Leslie Broughton, Rev. Tommy Frazier, and Rev. Carolina Curtis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with grandsons and friends serving as Pallbearers.  Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Barbourville Funeral Home Saturday Evening from 6 to 9 P.M. and Sunday from 10 A.M. to the funeral hour at 2.
