Obituary for Luverda Blanche Boose (1927-2019)

Luverda Blanche Boose, affectionately know as “Momma Lue”, age 92, departed this life on November 14, 2019 at Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.  She was the daughter of the late Lela Gregory Simmons and Adam Simmons, happily born to them on June 16, 1927 in Knox County.

Luverda was a cherished member of the Saint Paul Baptist Church where, over the years, she devoted time as chairperson on both the Usher Board and the Culinary Committee.

Luverda was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Boose who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter:  Margaret Chesney; a granddaughter: Mary Pursiful Petrey; four brothers: Chalmus Jones, Alex Jones, Alfonsa Simmons, and Winston Simmons.  Three sisters also preceded Luverda in death:  Ann Faneher, Bertha Frances, and Margaret Hydrolia Smith.

Left to mourn her passing is her sister Lela Potter of Barbourville, Ky.; her brother, Amos Gregory of Weirton, WV.; and her great-granddaughter Micheala Pursiful of Lexington, Ky.  Luverda is also survived by a large host of beloved nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins.  As well, she leaves behind many friends including special friends, Rick Broughton (Sandy) and Dennis Jackson.

Funeral Services for Ms. Boose will be held at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Charles Tinsley officiating.   Interment will be immediately following the funeral at the Rosenwald Cemetery, Barbourville.  Family and friends may visit the Boose family from 12:30 p.m until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be announced shortly. The honorary pallbearers are Dr. Raju Vora and the staff of Barbourville Health and Rehabiliation Center.
